“Buffaloes Capture Canadian Sports School Hockey Championship” – PembinaValleyOnline.com

The Pilot Mound Hockey Academy Buffaloes are Canadian Sports School Hockey Midget Varsity Division champions.

Dawson Chen made 35 saves and Dayvon Bull scored the go-ahead goal on the power play with five minutes left in the third period as the Buffaloes defeated Calgary’s Edge Hockey School 2-1 in the championship game in Penticton, British Columbia.

Brock MacDonald had the other Pilot Mound goal.

The Buffaloes, who finished in first place in the CSSHL with a record of 17-6-1, lost their preliminary round opener 4-0 to Edge and then reeled off four straight wins.

Pilot Mound beat Coeur d’Alane of Idaho 7-3 and Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy in Kelowna 6-2.

The Buffaloes then downed the Prairie Hockey Academy of Caronport, Saskatchewan 6-2 in the semifinals.

Two players from the Pilot Mound Hockey Academy were named CSSHL award winners.

Tynan Ewart of Duncan, B.C. was selected the Top Defenseman and MVP while Jordan McGinnis of The Pas was voted Top Goaltender.
